Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Library and Archive Office (Dispersip) continues its storytelling program to foster reading interest in children, especially from early age.
The office's storyteller, Yanti, hopes storytelling will become an ongoing activities, so that children become accustomed to hearing and emulate positive stories from early age.
"Library also committed to presenting other creative literacy program to advance reading and learning culture in "Bumi Saijaan" (Kotabaru's nickname)," she said in Kotabaru, Monday.

To participants from three kindergartens (TK): TK Al Hidayah Fajar, TK Sinar Laut, and TK Al Muslimun Mandin, Yanti presented a story entitled “Senangnya Menolong” (The Joy of Helping) which full of moral messages about the importance of helping one another.
Children were enthusiastic, sometimes even imitating gestures and responding to parts of the story.
The accompanying teachers from each kindergarten welcomed this activity.
They consider storytelling does not only entertain, but an effective media for instilling positive character in children.
“Through stories, children can learn about empathy, sharing, and togetherness in a fun way,” said one of the teachers.
