Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, H Muhammad Rusli conducted a Ramadan 1447 Hijri Safari at Al-Anshar Mosque in Tanjung Seloka Village, Pulau Laut Selatan Sub-district, to foster silaturahmi with the community in the islands region.
The Regent said Ramadan Safari is a routine agenda of the district government with the aim to foster good relationship or silaturahmi, strengthen ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood) and synergy in regional development.
“Through this Ramadan Safari the government present among the community to hear their aspiration and strengthening communication and togetherness in developing Kotabaru,” he said as reported on Thursday.
On this occasion, the Regent outlined several priority programs of the district government, particularly in improving public services in health sector.

The government has built health facilities, including hospitals in Sengayam and Stagen, and plan to build another hospital in Tanjung Lalak to provide close access to health service for islands residents.
In maritime and fisheries sector, the local government continues to encourage the fulfillment of coastal community needs, such as boat engine and safety equipment in the form of life jackets.
In agriculture, the rice field printing program is being intensified, as well as installation of street lighting (PJU) in Tanjung Seloka by the Transportation Office.
The Regent also reminded people to maintain conducive environment during Ramadan, increase vigilance against potential disasters, maintain clean environment, and continue to foster spirit of education, especially in the islands regions.

The event was also attended by Forkopimda (the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum), exper staff, assistants, heads of regional work units (SKPD), heads of sub-district, as well as Pulau Laut Selatan and Pulau Laut Kepulauan leadership coordination forum, village heads, religious leaders, religious scholars, and local residents.
Pulau Laut Selatan Sub-district Head Burhanuddin appreciated the local government attention to infrastructure development and people's welfare in his area.
He hopes Ramadan Safari would strengthen relationship between the government and the community.
The event was ended with tausiyah or a sermon by Ustadz H Bahrudin yang raised the theme of importance of gratitude as key to happiness and blessing in life.
