Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The district government of Kotabaru held a varied, balanced, and safe (B2SA) food festival by promoting local food ingredients (non-rice non-flour).
Chairwoman of the Kotabaru TP-PKK Suci Anisa Rusli, through Deputy Chairperson Siti Kadijah, said that the use of diverse local foods must be encouraged, so that people do not rely on one type of basic food such as rice.
“Kotabaru has abundant potential of non-rice local food, such as cassava, tubers, and banana. The local resource based-B2SA contest can hopefully foster creativity and innovation in creating attractive and high taste food,” she pointed out.
Some 22 sub-district TP PKK contested in the festival, presenting rice and flour substitute dishes.

Arya Nor Abdi, a jury from Kotabaru Health Office, said that B2SA contest can spur creativity of mothers in preparing various dishes using local food ingredients.
“Through this festival we want people to vary food from other carbohydrate source for staple food, for instance tubers, cassava, and yam bean, while maintaining balanced nutrition and taste,” he said.
The contestants previously presented profiles of raw materials and then UP2K (family business improvement income) and UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Business) products, which became additional values to be asssessed.
The contest aims to raise community awareness about the importance of consuming diverse, balanced, and safe foods by utilizing local food potential.
The event was also attended by Chairperson of the Kotabaru Organization of Civil Servants' Wives (DWP) Risna S Pane Eka Safrudin, acting Secretary of Food Office, sub-district heads and chairperson of sub-district TP-PKK throughout Kotabaru.
Here is the list of winners of the B2SA Festival as assessed by the jury:
1st winner: the Pulau Laut Timur TP-PKK with a score of 45.38.
2nd winner: the Kelumpang Hilir TP PKK with a score of 42.79.
3rd winner: the Pulau Laut Utara TP PKK with a score of 42.59.
The first winner will represent Kotabaru in the provincial level local food festival to be held on July 14.
