ULM Kotabaru PSDKU strengthens synergy in regional human resources development

Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Kotabaru Regional Secretary H Eka Saprudin stated that the Kotabaru Regency Government is grateful to the Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) and his team for their commitment to developing Study Program Outside the Main Campus (PSDKU) di Kotabaru.

The presence of PSDKU is considered a strategic step in expanding access to higher education in the island and mainland region of Kotabaru.

“Improving human resources is the main vision of the regional government. considering its geographical condition which consists of mainland and islands, access to higher education is a particular concern. The presence of ULM PSDKU in Kotabaru is a long term investment in developing superior and competitive local human resources,” he said here as reported on Friday (February 27, 2026).

Meanwhile, the average length of schooling and school expectancy in Kotabaru are said still need to be improved.

To this end, PSDKU is expected to not only open access to higher education, but also to accommodate the regional potential through development of study program relevant to the local needs.

The district goverment also hopes that the PSDKU not to be concentrated only on island area, but will expand to mainland area.

The to the students, the local government advised them to take full advantage of the opportunity to pursue higher education and complete their studies on time.

They are expected to become the next generation of regional development capable of competing at the regional and national levels.

Meanwhile, the public lecture in Kotabaru was attended by the Rector of ULM Banjarmasin Prof Ahmad Alim Bachri, the Vice Rector for Public Relations and Information Systems Cooperation Dr Yusuf Azis, the Regent's Assistants and Expert Staff, as well as the heads of regional government agencies (SKPD), and undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students at PSDKU ULM Kotabaru.
