Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The Provincial Government of South Kalimantan is conducting an in-depth study on the use of land donated by the City Government of Banjarbaru to build a national stadium with an international standard.
"We are still discussing at the provincial level how this land grant be fully utilized for the construction of a national stadium,” said acting Head of South Kalimantan Youth and Sports Office M Fitri Hernadi here, Friday.
The land is strategically located in Banjarbaru City close to the provincial government office area and considered safe from the risk of flooding.

Of the 22.9 hectares of the land area, around 10 hectares is planned to be used for the main stadium. The rest will be used for sports and enertainment facilities, including training fields, martial arts building, and other sports arenas.
“The construction of the national stadium in Banjarbaru is one of the campaign promises of Governor and Deputy Governor of South Kalimantan, which is targeted to be completed and can be used in 2029,” he said.
Currently, the provincial government is still considering the legal aspects of the land use, either a grant methods or other possible scheme.
“The land is ready and the planning as well. Now we just need to ensure that there are no obstacles to legality so that the construction can run according to target,” added Fitri Hernadi.
Meanwhile, the City Government of Banjarbaru has completed various required planning documents, including physical finalization (FF), feasibility study (FS), and Detail Engineering Design (DED), to technically show that the land is ready to use.
