Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - State electricity company PT PLN (Persero) of South and Central Kalimantan Main Distribution Unit (UID Kalselteng) presented two units of public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLUs) at the Sultan Suriansyah Regional Hospital (RSUD) in Banjarmasin.
The EV-charging stations each with a capacity of 22 kilo Watt (kW) have been installed and operating since November 18, 2024. This makes Sultan Suriansyah the first hospital in Kalimantan to provide EV-charging station facilities.

Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina in Banjarmasin on Saturday expressed his appreciation for PLN's initiative to provide EV-charging stations at the hospital.
“We would like to thank PLN for the construction of SPKLU which supports the Banjarmasin city's Green Energy program. It presence at the health facility will have a positive impact for the environment while encouraging people to switch to electric vehicles,” he said.
Ibnu SIna emphasized the importance of local energy such as electricity to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
“The use of electrical energy is in line with the President Prabowo Subianto's Astacita program in achieving energy self-sufficiency. It is more efficient and creates cleaner environment,” he added.
Senior Manager of PLN South-Central Kalimantan Sigit Fanani pointed out that synergy between PLN and various parties is very important to accelerate the energy transition.
“We encourage various sectors to work together to advance the battery-based electric vehicle (KBLBB). Good available infrastructure will convince people to switch to electric vehicles,” he said.
PLN South-Central Kalimantan so far has buit 64 EV-charging stations or SPKLUs, 41 units in South Kalimantan and 23 units in Central Kalimantan.
“This year, we target to build 45 new EV-charging station to make it easier for EV users to travel in Kalimantan,” said Sigit.
Director of Sultan Suriansyah Hospital dr. H. Muhammad Syaukani expressed his gratitude for the collaboration of teh city government of Banjarmasin and PLN that it became the first hospital to have EV-charging station in Kalimantan.
Meanwhile, the General Manager of PLN South-Central Kalimantan Ahmad Syauki stated that the presence of SPKLU at Sultan Suriansyah Hospital was part of PLN's commitment to support the EV ecosystem development in South Kalimantan.
