Kotabaru, South Kalimantan 30/12 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Communities in eight villages in the sub-district of North Pamukan and South Pamukan, Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, demanding the expansion of the sub-district.
Vice Chairman of the Sub-district Expansion Committee Forum Rahmat in Kotabaru Friday said the issue of establishment of a new sub-districts that will be named the Eastern Pamukan has been long enough.
"Proposal for the sub-district expansion had been submitted via the forum organizers since 2016," he said.
Eight villagers demanding the expansion were four villages located in the North Pamukan, namely Mulyoharjo, Binturong, Bintang Jaya, and Tamiang.
As well as four villages located in the South Pamukan, namely Pondok Labu, Rampa Cengal, Sakadoyan Village, and Sesulung.
Because it is not yet resolved, the aspirations delivered back during a working meeting of the Kotabaru Regent Sayed Jafar with the government of sub-district which located on the border with the East Kalimantan.
"With the expansion, community service is expected to be more effective and better," said Rahmat who is also head of the Mulyoharjo village.
He gave an example, residents of Mulyoharjo must cover a distance of 17 kilometers away to get to North Pamukan sub-district capital.
Head of Governance of Kotabaru Maulidiansyah acknowledged the establishment of East Pamukan has long been proposed. However, there are conditions which can not be met, namely the coverage area of ??at least 10 villages.
"North Pamukan has 13 villages and South Pamukan own 11 villages, when added together only 24 villages. If divided by three, then each sub-district only eight, did not qualify of at least 10 villages," he explained.
He also said that the expansion could have been done, but hit again with the required number of residents. In addition, local governments are also constrained by budgets.
Meanwhile Kotabaru has 21 sub-districts with 202 villages and urban villages. Last sub-district formed in 2013 was Pulau Laut Tanjung Selayar which was a split of the sub-district of the Western Pulau Laut.
