Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Acting Regional Secretary of Kotabaru Eka Saprudin said that the distict is targeting top 10 in the 36th National Quran Recital Competition or Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQN) at South Kalimantan Province level in Martapura.
"Our target for this year MTQ is to improve our position and enter the top 10, top ranking,” he pointed out.
The secretary, who attended the opening ceremony of the 36th MTQN in Martapura, said that kafilah or contingent from Kotabaru has participated in various series of activities, from pawai ta’aruf or introductiOn parade to the opening of the event.

It participation is also a form of support of the regional government for religious activities that stengthen the values of Al-Qur’an in community life.
The secretary also delivered the message of the Kotabaru Regent asksing all the district's contestants to always maintain their heath and maintain the good name of Bumi Saijaan (Kotabaru's nickname).
The 36th MTQN was officially opened by Governor of South Kalimantan H Muhidin, accompanied by Banjar Regent H Saidi Mansyur, Deputy Regent Said Idrus Al Habsyi, as well as elements of South Kalimantan Forkopimda (leadership coordination forum), and representatives of each of 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan.
A total 1.399 contestants ready to compete with the support of 160 judges and technical committees, 270 committees from Banjar District, with various fields of competition held in a number of places in Martapura from June 19 to 27, 2025.Through this presence, Kotabaru government emphasized its commitment in supporting syiar Islam and strengthening ukhuwah Islamiyah (islamic brotherhood) by sending 113 members of kafilah consisting of 55 cotestant, 6 training coordinator, 15 trainers and 37 technical committees participating in a number of competitions competed in the 36th MTQ in Banjar District.
