Martapura, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor instructed all human resources of the government to stay alert and the provincial inhibitants to remain vigilant for signs of floods, landslides, and tornadoes.
The Governor was chairing preparedness roll call for floods, whirlwind, landslides disasters in Martapura, Banjar District, Monday, to ascertain that all personnel and equipments were being readied to mitigate disasters.
"Today we are preparing all the existing equipments and human resources to take measures to mitigate natural disasters," said Sahbirin.
The preparedness roll call was held, he said, was to map out areas prone to disaster by involving the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agencies (BPBD), TNI, Polri, and volunteers.
The disaster post commands will be beginning to be built at the district and city level, especially in areas prone to disaster during the rainy season.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has informed that rainy season is beginning in South Kalimantan areas in November 2023.
Governor instructed all government offices and residents to stay alert for the potential of disasters during the rainy season.
Meanwhile, Head of South Kalimantan BPBD Raden Suria Fadilansyah said that coordination meeting would be held soon to establish disaster post commands.
"After the preparedness roll call, we immediately will hold the coordination meeting to determine the establishment of the disaster post commands in 13 districts and cities," he said.
