Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The City Government of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, is looking for potential disabled athletes in various sports through the 2023 Special Olympics Indonesia (SOIna) championship.
Deputy Mayor of Banjarmasin Arifin Noor here on Tuesday said that SOIna is expected to get disabled athletes who are reliable and have high achievements.
"This 2023 SOIna in Banjarmasin is the right place for us to support social inclution. Every individual, without exception, has the same opportunity to develop and contribute positively toward the City of Banjarmasin," he said.
To all the athletes, he said welcome and thank you for your enthusiasm and extraorinary dedication wwhich show the attitude of hard work, perseverance and never give up spirit of athletes through sports.
Arifin said the athletes competed in 10 sports, namely bocce down syndrome, badminton, running down syndrome, running, turbo throwing, long jump, down syndrome swimming, swimming, down syndrome rhytmic gymnastics, and table tennis.

He express his gratitude to all SOIna Banjarmasin City branch boards who were involvved in this championship which takes place November 21-22, 2023.
SOIna Banjarmasin Daily Chairperson Nariansyah said 120 athletes took part in the championship.
"This SOIna championship is at least looking for our athletes to take part in the provincial level and even national level actually," he said.
Nariansyah revealed that in swimming, Banjarmasin has actually has one athlete who won gold medal at the national event sme time ago.
"Actually we have athlete (with achievement0, so we will just save this for the provincial level," said Nariansyah.
