Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The City Government of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, stated its support for red and white village (Kampung Merah Putih) program to be intensified in the city to evoke nationalism in society.
Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina here on Friday expressed his appreciation to the inisiators of the Kampung Merah Putih program, which is abbreviated as Kamaratih.
Even though this program seems simple, he said, there is a deep meaning behind it to foster a sense of love for the motherland (nationalism) throughout society.
"This is very important, all of us must maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)," he said.
One of the things that is activated in the red and white village program, said Ibnu Sina, is growing high awareness to hoisting red and white flag on national or state days.
The program, which was initiated in Sungai Andai, North Banjarmasin, he said, is expected to continue to grow to as many as 52 urban villages in five sub-districts in the city.
"The plan is to kick off the program on June 1, 2023 to coincide with Pancasila Day. While the inauguration of Kampung Merah Putih will be held on August 1, 2023," he said.
Meanwhile, the National Insight Education Center Team, who initiated the program, has coordinated and conducted a survey in the areas where the Kampung Merah Putih will be promoted in Banjarmasin.
The red and while village program has a criteria, including residents' houses being on the outskirts of the city, having an administrative area, at least 1 or 2 neighborhood units (RT).
Other criteria are that people in the area are middle to lower income, heterogeneous people, have edequate education and have a good religious tolerance.
