Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Cross-Profession Women Association (PPLIPI) is striving to prevent all forms of violence against children, especially the prevalence of cases of bullying, by educating Jakarta's residents.
The association held four open discussions and talk shows for the people as a means of disseminating information on preventing violence against children in a series of the National Children's Day
"We strive to prevent it, so that cases of bullying among children will not occur again," PPLIPI's Chairperson, Indah Suryadharma Ali, noted during the Children Creativity Competition at the Gandaria City Mall here as part of the event, Sunday.

The talk shows discussed maternal and child health, ways to stop violence against children, and the cause as well as impact of bullying against children.
The talk shows featured competent speakers with expertise in the health and legal fields with regard to children. The official from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) also became the speaker.
PPLIPI Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Deputy Chairperson Kartika Yudhisti noted that several news reported cases of violence against children recently.
According to Yudhisti, children should feel safe and comfortable with the people close to them.
However, in reality, in the wake of several cases, these children have become victims of violence in the hands of the people close to them.

The high level of bullying also strongly correlates with the use of phones or gadgets among children, she noted.
It is due to the increased use of gadgets by several children during the pandemic, thereby resulting in increased incidents of bullying that left a scarring trauma.
"We intentionally feature legal expert in imparting this education, considering that the perpetrators and victims are both children," she stated.
To this end, the association encourages the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to bolster extracurricular education, so that children are not fixated on their phones or gadgets.
