Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - The National Data Center project worth US$100 million to be built in Batam, Riau Islands financed by the Korean government. The financing document is being discussed between the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and Financial Ministry.
According to Plate, this National Data Center is being constructed to expedite information and data synchronization as well as to ensure the accuracy of decision-making by the president.
In addition, Batam was selected as one of the locations for the National Data Center, as it already has an underwater fiber optic network that can connect to Jakarta. Moreover, the city is located in proximity to Kalimantan.
"Thus, all National Data Centers across Indonesia can be connected in the future," he remarked.
The minister estimated that establishment of the National Data Center will help Indonesia's digital economy to grow to reach US$146 billion by 2025 and US$315 billion by 2030.
Moreover, in line with the current government's policy and the global community's expectations, the data centers will be constructed using green energy.
"As a result, we can have green data centers," he remarked.
The Communication and Informatics Ministry received a certificate for five hectares of land for construction of the National Data Center in Nongsa, Batam, Riau Islands, from the Batam National Land Agency (BPN) this Friday.
Plate noted that a data center, with Tier-IV global standard, will be constructed on five hectares of land.
