Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The tradisional tambangan boat that once existed in the city of Banjarmasin then disappeared but now it need to be made again because of a high economic value it has.
It was said by Kresno Wiyoso, speaker and team leader of KMW Ministry of Public Works and Housing Cipta Karya in workshop 100-0-100 or one hundred percent availability of clean water, zero percent of slums, and one hundred percent access to sanitation in Banjarmasin on Tuesday.
"If you look at photos and stories about the tambangan boat it will be a magnet for tourists," he said in a workshop that lasted two days from Monday and opened by the Acting Mayor Thamrin here.
In fact, according to Kresno who came with the Habitat Partnership team, tambangan boat is more beautiful than the gondola, famous boat in the world tourist city of Venice.
The tambangan boat advantages compared with gondola in Italy lie in the high curve of the boat neck and there were ornaments and carvings typical of the cultural nuances of Banjar.
"If this boat was made again and used as tourist transport would be very interesting, and certainly will be a lot of tourists who want to sail using the typical boat on the Martapura River and in the Barito River," he said
"I believe anyway, the boat will be used as the background of the visitors to take pictures, as evidence they had come to the city whose nickname the "City of a Thousand Rivers," he said.
