Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarbaru Acting Mayor Martinus said he is ready to push development acceleraton of Syamsudin Noor airport Banjarmasin which is located in Banjarbaru.
"We will encourage PT Angkasa Pura to accelerate the airport project," he said on the sidelines of a coordination meeting with the leadership of SKPD Banjarbaru municipal government, Thursday.
According to Martinus, who still actively serving as Head of South Kalimantan Public Works Agency, the acceleration of the airport development is required to progress the city.
Although the groundbreaking of the airport development has been done by Vice President Jusuf Kalla in mid-May 2015, but the construction has not yet begun.
"Hence, we encourage PT Angkasa Pura and other concerned parties to accelerate the implementation of work, so the airport expansion quickly realized," he said.
The development of the airport, which are located in the Village of Syamsudin Noor, is a major impact for the life of the surrounding community. Especially for Banjarbaru who do not have natural resources, then the existence of the airport will greatly help increase revenue through service sector.
Earlier, General Manager of PT Angkas Pura I Syamsudin Noor Airport Handy Heryudhitiawan said, the airport development project is still in the bidding phase. "If the auction is finished and a winner is known, then the construction of the airport which cost Rp2.3 trillion could be done as soon as possible," he said.
