Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Navy in Banjarmasin provided education and distributed masks to fishermen, ship crews, and river transport users.
"It seems that the discipline of health protocol by residents who do their activities in the waters is much lower than that on land," said Commander of the Trisakti Observatory Post (Danposmat) Sea First Lieutenant (T) Purwadi.
He acknowledged that the operation to enforce health protocol discipline that was often conducted on the land was quite successful in making residents be more obedient.
On the contrary in waters, which are less targeted by similar operations, people are less disciplined as they are on land.
That is the reason, said Purwadi, that his party promotes health protocol for coastal communities and people who do their activities in waters to stem the COVID-19 infection.

Purwadi and members, who reprented the Commander of Banjarmasin Navy Base Sea Colonel (P) Herbiyantoko, distributed 250 masks to river transport (kelotok) users on Barito River in Teluk Dalam Urban Village, Banjarmasin.
He said the distribution of masks was a form of Navy soldiers' concern for users of kelotok (traditional motorboat) during the pandemic which is prone to transmission.
"We hope people understand the importance of health protocol in the pandemic. Not only wearing masks, we also must diligently wash hands and avoid crowds," he said.
