Martapura, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Minister of agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo paid a working visit as well as handed over aid for flood victims at the flood handling post in the courtyard of the Banjar Regent's office in Martapura.
The Minister, who was accompanied by five ministry's officials, arrived on Wednesday at about 11.20 WITA (Central Indonesia Time) and welcomed by Regent Khalilurrahman together with the Banjar Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda).
His visit to the Serambi Mekah City was to hand over care for flood victim aid. Flood hit most of Banjar district and caused agriculture results, especially rice, damage.
"Our visit is to hand over the aid from the Ministry of Agriculture Flood Care for people of South Kalimantan all at once as a form of the state presence to help people," said the Minister in front of the Regent and other invitees.
The assistance provided by the Minister of agriculture consisted of thousands of tons of rice seeds, 50 thousand ducks, and humanitarian aid for flood victims.
Banjar Regent said that the losses suffered by Banjar District from agriculture, food crops, and horticultural sectors due to floodings since mid-January 2021 were enormous.
"The loss in the agriculture sector is estimated at Rp38 billion with 19 sub-district affected by flood covering 207 villages. Damages range from unhulled rice, seedlings, agriculture machinery rice planting area to infrastructure," said the Regent.
