Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Tanah Laut Forest Agency seeks to encourage and motivate people to be fond of planting trees, by providing special programs of beekeeping.
"Beekeeping that we develop in Tanah Laut (Tala) as a form of motivation to people to be fond of planting trees," said Head of Land Rehabilitation and Conservation Forest Service Tala, Ahmad Rafika on Monday.
According to him, the presence of trees that produce flowers such as acacia trees, durian, kapok and oil, then the honeybee easily get food from the nectar of flowers.
From beekeeping, farmers will get two benefits. First, planting trees, and the second as their livelihood from cultivation of honey bees.
"This program encourages people to greening, because without trees that produce flowers, the bees will not be able to produce qualified honey," he said.
It has recorded 19 honey bee farmers centers spread in several subdistricts in Tala. "Some of them have produced honey such as Karang Taruna, Batu Ampar, Telaga Langsat and Panyipatan," he said.
In addition to honey bees as a mainstay of Tanah Laut on non-timber forest products, there are some products that will be developed in the area.
"Other non-timber forest products are aloes and Nypa. Aloes is still in the stage of cultivation, whereas Nypa has been done in the form of making the roof," he said.
