Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Library and Archives Agency (Dispersip) is ready to destroy as many as 21,487 archive files which retention has expired belonging to a number of offices and agencies of the provincial government.
Head of Dispersip Nurliani here on Sunday said the destruction was scheduled for Tuesday (Nov 17, 2020) at the agency's Archives Depot behind the Banjarbaru City Hall.
"This November archive destruction is the second in 2020. Previosly 26,585 archives were destroyed in April," said Bunda Nunung, Nurliani's nickname.
The archives to be destroyed were belonging to the Finance Bureau, General Bureau, the South Kalimantan Bureau of Development, Inspectorate, Forestry Agency, and Plantation Agency that have entered the Archives Retention Schedule (JRA), such as financial archives with a retention period of 10 years and employee records for five years.

"The destruction of archives cannot be done carelessly, but according to retention schedule and must be approved by ANRI to be followed up by the governor's decree," she pointed out.
Prior to the destruction, an assessment team as well as an archive destruction team was formed which was stipulated by the governor's decree. The team works to assess the archives proposed to be destroyed.
"The team has been working, so it is known that 21,487 files met the requirement for destruction. The Governor's Decree is already, so the next is the destruction," she said.
