Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Gold mining company PT Pelsart Tambang Kencana (PTK) successfully conducted its 1447 Hijri/2026 Semarak Ramadhan or Ramadan Celebration program in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan Province, for five days.

"The Ramadan 1447 Hijri/2026 was successfully held from March 7 to 11 at Al-Ikhlas Mosque, Gendang Timburu Village in Sungai Durian Sub-district," said PT PTK's representative, Septamto Inkiriwang, here on Thursday.

He informed that the event had been held for three consecutive years and the company planned to make it an annual event, rotating in villages around the mine.

The aim is to strengthen religious values, ties among residents, and foster enthusiasm of younger generation to study and practice Islamic teachings from early age, and to foster local wisdom.

The Semarak Ramadhan 2026 activities included various competitions 109 children participationg in TPA (Al-Qurán Learning Centers).

Five categories were competed: short surah memorization, daily prayer memorization, Qur’an recitation, adzan (call to prayer), and group competition. Enthusiasm of participants and support of the community showed teh strong sense of togetherness within the activity.

Fast breaking gathering held at four mosques in the villages was also includeded in the event, as a means to strengthening Islamic brotherhood among residents.

As a form of social care, the committee also distributed aid to 55 orphans and elderly, as well as prayer equipment to support community religious activities.

"Through Semarak Ramadhan, we hope to continue contributing to support religious and social activities in areas around our company's operation. This is part of our commitment to grow and develop together with the comunity," he pointed out.

Head of Gendang Timburu Village, Yunuari, expressed his appreciation for the event.

"Semarak Ramadhan is very positive, not only as ompetition, but also as a platform for developing younger generation in religious matters," said Yunuari.

Ustadz Muri, a religious figure, also stated that activities like this are very positive, because they can instill Islamic values in children from early age.
