Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Regent Kotabaru H Irhami Ridjani ask all companies operating in the area not to dismiss their workers, although they are in difficult condition.
"Because of the impact of layoffs (PHK) was quite spacious, as was the case in the mining company in Geronggang," said Regent here on Tuesday.
The dismissal hundreds of workers in a coal mining company in Geronggang, Middle Kelumpang, reasonably gave an impact both community and local government. One of them is the emergence of new problem in society.
Request not to lay off also delivered to PT Sebuku Iron Lateritic Ores (SILO), who is now addressing issues.
Separately, the Operations Manager of PT SILO Henry Yulianto accompanied by Human Resources Development/General Affair (HR/GA) ID Ketut Dharmaja in Kotabaru said, the company is now struggling to maintain 1,600 employees in order to keep working and not laid off.
"Management was not able to do the layoff, although since January 12 PT SILO does not get export licenses," he said.
Dharmaja asserted, since the enactment of Law No. 4 of 2009 on Mineral Export Restrictions for unprocessed ore, the majority of the company's employees are not doing the activity, because the company has not been able to export concentrates production.
If the company does not promptly obtain licenses to export, it does not rule out the 1,600 employees must accept this fact.
Therefore, SILO management hopes local governments equally helping companies to jointly requested that the central government immediately issue an export license which has been set at 4 million metric tons per year.
"A Quota of 4 million metric tons per year has not been received in writing, it merely a statement alone," said Hendry.
Regent expects, the PT SILO management remain empower employees, while waiting licence promised by the Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
"I just found out that the SILO obtain an export quota of four million metric tons per year, and hopefully it release right away," he explained.
