Jakarta (ANTARA) - Pertamina, Indonesia's state-owned energy company, is offering a 20 percent discount on the price of aviation fuel to support the year-end hectic flight schedules during the holiday season of Christmas and New Year 2020.
Pertamina's Vice President of Corporate Communication, Fajriyah Usman, stated here on Monday that the discount will be valid from December 9, 2019 to January 31, 2020, at some transit airports in several eastern regions, such as Manado, Ambon, and Kupang, followed by connecting flights to remote areas.
Data indicated that fuel consumption at those airports rose on an average of over 20 percent during the holiday season.
"During this period, people travel extensively to celebrate Christmas and the New Year’s Eve as well as the school holidays. We expect our price cut-off would support the Indonesian air transportation sector," Usman emphasized.
To this day, Pertamina provides fuel for aircraft at 68 airports across Indonesia, including the eastern regions, as well as airstrips.
"Our well-distributed infrastructure has made Pertamina able to provide service to airports situated in isolated areas," she added.
