Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Tiga Roda cement industry, PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk Tarjun Plant, trained farmers in a number of its fostered villages in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, to develop agriculture using hydroponic systems.
Indocement Tarjun's CSR Section Head H Nor Imansyah in Kotabaru, Wednesday (26/6), said farmers in fostered villages, especially those who took part in the training are expected to become pioneers or examples in hydroponic farming practices that utilize agricultural land that is not wide, but with good production.
"The target that we expect from the training is of course economic value that can be achieved in an effort to increase agricultural production," he said.
Imansyah also hopes that farmers will be able to give birth to small units of Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) in the field of agriculture whose purpose is to increase agricultural production in 10 villages.
"Hopefully the results can be received as expected," he said.
Tegalrejo Village farmer Lailatul Mahianur said, the community chose a farming model with a hydroponic system because it was relatively easy and did not use large land thus it is considered very developed.
"Previously we were trained by Indocement to develop the knowledge from the training provided and the results were very helpful in revenue, of course, we could use the existing home garden," Mahianur said.
