Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Ministry of Agriculture through the Agriculture Quarantine Agency (Barantan) seeks to increase export products by exploring new export products and encouraging the growth of millennial exporters.
Head of agency Ali Jamil after releasing exports of plywood and leaves to various countries in Banjarmasin on Sunday, said there were five strategic efforts to increase and accelerate exports of agricultural commodities.
First, he said, increasing the number of exporters, especially among the millennial generation, by encouraging the creativity of the younger generation in increasing production that is suitable for export.
Second, increasing the diversification of commodities with a minimum of semi-finished products. As has been done in South Kalimantan by exporting gelinggang leaf (Cassia alata), which was sent to Japan as a basic ingredient in medicine.
The new commodity, he added, has a great opportunity to develop and is a renewable product.
The third strategic step is increasing the frequency of sending agricultural commodities. Fourth, increasing the volume of commodities and finally opening market access to other export destination countries.
"In accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Agriculture, Barantan continues to make efforts to open market access by harmonizing quarantine rules in the new export destination countries," he said.
The event was attended by Expert Staff of the Governor of Economics and Development in South Kalimantan Achmad Sofiyani and Mayor of Banjarmasin Ibnu Sina.
