The provincial government of South Kalimantan is now getting ready for the 29th National Quran Recital Competition, or the National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ), to be held in Banjarmasin in October 2022.

One of the government agencies being busy in preparing the national event is the Tourism Office. 

"We are now preparing for hotels and places of attraction, especially in Banjarmasin, Banjarbaru, and Banjar where the event will take place," said Head of South Kalimantan Tourism Office M Syarifuddin here Tuesday.

According to him, it is estimated 5,000 visitors, including the participants of the competition, will come to the event. 

"From the data that we have collected, insya Allah we have enough hotels (for our visitors). Don't worry," he said.

Meanwhile, the agency is also preparing good places to visit for visitors, such as floating market, the Sultan Adam People's Forest Park, diamond and gemstone market of Martapura, and other interesting places.

The plan, he said, the opening of the National MTQ will be centered in the Kiram Park attraction, Banjar District.

The National MTQ, which will be held on 10 to 19 of October 2022, he said, is expected to be the moment for the revival of the South Kalimantan tourism, especially in the three places of the events.

In addition, he said, there will be an introductory parade and welcoming attraction in Martapura River.
