Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - Governor of South Kalimantan H Muhidin said Ramadan Cake Fair was an effort to grow the economy of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The Governor was with Deputy Governor H Hasnuryadi, Banjarmasin Mayor H Muhammad Yamin and Deputy Mayor H Ananda when officiating the fair on Jalan Sudirman right at the O Kilometer, Martapura River Embankment in Banjarmasin, Saturday.
H Muhidin said the cake fair in every Ramadan has become a tradition in South Kalimantan which complements the activities of Muslim community during the fasting month.
In the City of a Thousand River, Ramadan Cake Fair has been a culinary tourist attraction that has been going on for decades and become a calender of event.
Collaboration between the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan and Banjarmasin City Government to jointly hold Ramadan Cake Fair 1446 Hijriah or 2025 in Banjarmasin was the first step in unity after 10 years of separation.

Governor said this is a joint effort to grow MSME economy in the culinary sector, because the region is rich in delicious culinary delights for iftar or breaking the fast.
A variety of South Kalimantan culinary specialties are sold at the Ramadan Cake Fair, such as bingka, amparan tatak, Lam cake, nasi kuning (yellow rice), katupat kandangan and others.
The opening of Ramadan Cake Fair 1446 H in Banjarmasin City attracted thousands of visitors, causing the location to be crowded.
On that occasion, at the same place, Governor H Muhidin opened National Halal Fair 2025 and The 2025 TPID Grand Market.
The Governor also visited the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) Market booth which provides basic necessities such as sugar, rice, eggs, shallot and others with cut price for the public.
Meanwhile, Mayor H Muhammad Yamin expressed his gratitude for the provincial government's support in enlivening the Ramadan Cake Fair in the city.
He said there were as many as 200 booths serving culinary delights as menu for iftar for visitors.
"We hope everything can run smoothly, safely, orderly, and most importantly don;t sell food too expensively," he said.
