Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina inaugurated a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) laboratory at the city government-owned Sultan Suriansyah Hospital. It was a step to stop the spreading of COVID-19 in the city.

Mayor said that the PCR lab was necessary, related to the COVID-19 specimen test. 

"This PCR device's capability reaches 150 samples per day," he said after the inauguration of the lab at Sultan Suriansyah Hospital, Tuesday.

With the capability of the machine, it will be able to accommodate samples, especially for the city of Banjarmasin, in detecting the spread of COVID-19. "We continue to strive to accelerate finding and breaking the chain of COVID-19," he said.

While the spread of COVID-19 showing the trend of slowing down in the city along with the presence of he PCR lab, it is hoped that it will make the handling of the outbreak easier.

He admitted that the efforts being made were inseparable from the guidance of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government to be more optimal in the process of accelerating the handling of COVID-19.

"The more equipment that is available, the faster the stop of the COVID-19 pandemic will be," he concluded.
