Chief of Banjarmasin Drug Unit Police (Satresnarkoba) Comr Wahyu Hidayat SIK MH made a breakthrough by establishing a Free Online Police Post (Poskotis) to help students from underprivileged families to follow distance learning.

"We establish this post for children from underprivileged families who have to learn through an online system, so they can go directly to this poskotis," said the 2005 Police Academy (Akpol) alumnus in Banjarmasin, Monday.

Comr Wahyu admitted that many students, because their parents cannot afford to buy internet data package or gadget, consequently they could not attend school lessons.

While school lessons take Zoom class or assignments send through Google Classroom app. In addition, he said, there are still many students who are victims of drug abuse.

On these considerations, and in order to socialize the prevention of dangers of drugs to students or early childhood, the chief of drug detective made a creative breakthrough by building poskotis.

Three poskotis were estalished, one at the Sudimampir Market Police Post, 2nd floor, one at Manggis Raya Fire Brigade Command Post next to East Banjarmasin Sub-district office, and one at the Traffic Police Post beside Merdeka Bridge.

Poskotis 1 at Sudimampir's second floor is equipped with free WiFi and eight computers as a learning facility for children of onion peeler workers who are still unfamiliar with computer technology. While other poskotis are only equipped with free WiFi. 

At the poskotis, children are also given character books to teach them character building, moral and good deeds, as well as an introduction to the National Police, and about the risk and dangers of drug abuse.

In carrying these activities, Satresnarkoba distributed mask and face shields to the students, and supervised by personnel to keep applying the WHO protocol, such as washing hands, wearing masks, and keeping a distance to avoid COVID-19 transmission.

"I hope this can help students who cannot afford to follow distance learning. We also introduce the dangers of drug abuse from an early age, so their morale can be formed for the future to become a drug-free generation," said the middle-ranking police officer to Antara News Agency.

In establishing the poskotis, Comr Wahyu Hidayat was willing to set aside a portion of his salary to buy eight computers and to provide free WiFi.

A housewife, Rospita, thanked the Banjarmasin's Satresnarkoba for providing a free online learning facility.

"I am so happy with this Poskotis, for us parents the burden can be overcome, no need to buy data package anymore because there is already poskotis provided by Satresnarkoba. Once again I thank you very much. May Allah repays all the kindness of these policemen," said the onion peeler worker.
