South Kalimantan has recorded a 70 percent rate of recovery of its total 7,838 COVID-19 patients both at the hospitals and at special quarantine facilities in all of its areas.

The province's Task Force for Accelerating Handling and Controlling of COVID-19 on Monday afternoon reported, as many as 5,461 patients had fully recovered, and the rest 2,036 are being treated at the hospitals and special quarantines.

The death toll was recorded 341, whiles people suspected of COVID-19 reached 972 scattered in various areas.

Based on the daily data, COVID-19 cases in South Kalimantan in the last few days have continued to decline. Last Thursday (August 20) the addition of positive cases was 181, then 74 on Friday, 80 on Saturday, 81 on Monday and 60 on Monday (August 24).

The new 60 cases came from Banjar District 11, Central Hulu Sungai (HST) 4, North Hulu Sungai (HSU) 5, and Banjarmasin 40.

Meanwhile, the number of patients recovered added by 40 came from the quarantines of Tanah Laut 1, Banjar 5, Barito Kuala 17, Tapin 1, South Hulu Sungai (HSS) 1. Then HSU 6, Tabalong 2, and Banjarmasin 7.

While patients died added by six, namely 1 from Banjar, 1 from HST, and 4 from Banjarmasin.

The Provincial Government is currently conducting a mass swab test to 10 thousand of residents. The mass test is aimed to more quickly find the centers of the spread of COVID-19 and to immediately stop them through quarantine or isolation program.

At the same time, the South Kalimantan Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP-PKK) through the Joint Movement to Wear Masks (Gebrak Masker) dispensed one million masks to the people.

The distribution of free masks was also carried out by various other institution, both government and private.
