Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Industry is actively facilitating small and medium enterprises' (SMEs) craft industries to participate in national and international exhibitions, including the Ambiente Exhibition in Germany.
"One of the ministry`s actions to support the improvement and promotion of our country`s craft SMEs is by facilitating their continuous participation in the international-scale Ambiente exhibition," Director General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry Gati Wibawaningsih said in a press statement made available to Antara here on Sunday, Feb 10.
This support is given because craft SMIs in Indonesia have great potential in driving the economy through the superiority of their unique, innovative, and competitive products.
Ambiente is the largest trade exhibition for the consumer goods sector and business meeting place for business people in the sectors of interior decoration, gifts, and premiums as well as table and dining ware.
Held at the Frankfurt Messe, Germany, from Feb 8 to Feb 12, 2019, the event is participated in by more than 96 countries this year.
Considering that most large companies participated in the Ambiente exhibition, the selected national craft business players were facilitated with promotional assistance to showcase their best handicraft products, especially home decor, with the opportunity to attract potential buyers (wholesalers or retailers), she said.
"Participating in exhibitions is one way to interact directly with buyers because sales trends from direct buyers of exporters are one of the effective and desirable channels of distribution in Europe," she explained.
According to Gati, the participation of Indonesian SMIs in this international scale exhibition was aimed to showcase the country`s handicraft products and convince potential buyers that Indonesian products could compete with superior products in the export market.
