Paringin, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Balangan chapter of the National Handicraft Council (Dekranasda Balangan), South Kalimantan, displayed a variety of superior local handicraft products at the 2023 KriyaNusa, a national-level crafts exhibition, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta.
“We are dislaying various superior craft products made from tirik bamboo and bamban (Donax canniformis, a type of wet plant that produces woven fiber), as well as a variety of sasirangan fabrics with Balangan typical motifs, such as durian flower, lanting, and moon orchid,” said Chairwoman of Balangan Dekranasda Sri Huriyati, Friday.
She said through the exhibition, these products could be known nationally and internationally, increasing interest of craft lovers at home and abroad, which is recent years has become icon of the largest craft exhibition in Indonesia.
The local government, she said, never stops introducing local products in Balangan in every activity, both regional and national.

Chairperson of the National Handicraft Council (Dekranas) Wury Ma’ruf Amin said KriyaNusa 2023 carries the theme Advanced Indonesia Superior Crafts describing Dekranas' vision to make Indonesian craft products continue to develop and become superior commodities that have global competitiveness.
“This exhibition is the right place to promote the amazing works of Indonesian craftsmen, as well as developing the richness of Indonesian culture,” she said.
According to Wury, crafts are not only art or craft, but a reflection of creativity, intelligence, and preserverance of people.
The craftsmen, Wury said, have traditional knwledge and skills that have been tested and perfected over the years.
“I hope with the built spirit of collaboration, the national craft products will be more superior and able to make KriyaNusa exhibition as an icon of the largest craft exhibition in Asia and even in the world,” she said.
