Batulicin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Tanah Bumbu District Government, South Kalimantan, continues to urge the central government to immediately provide policies to PT Meratus Jaya Iron Steel (MJIS) in the Batulicin Industrial Area to resume operations.
"PT MJIS is a company that produces sponge steel raw materials which are then sent to PT Krakatau Steel to be used as steel," said Tanah Bumbu Secretary Roswandi Salem in Batulicin, Tuesday.
The company was established in 2012 and had produced approximately three years. As a result of the unstable price of steel in the world market, the company temporarily stopped production to avoid losses.
The non-operation of the steel company has an impact on the reduction of labor and others.
Therefore, continued the Secretary, the local government continued to urge the central government to help provide a solution by providing a policy, so that PT MJIS could operate again and be able to absorb local workers to be rehired.
According to him, PT MJIS is the main anchor of industry in the Batulicin Integrated Economic Zone (Kapet) which has an area of 560 hectares, so its presence plays an important role as a reference for investors to contribute to establishing company.
"The regional government really expects the central government to be able to provide a breakthrough through policies so that the company can operate again. The existence of the company is able to bring a better impact on the welfare of the local community," he explained.
