Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan 31/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of South Kalimantan Manpower and Transmigration Agency Antonius Simbolon revealed that the company can propose the postponement of implementing Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) Increase if it feels the objection.
According to Antonius, the government still open space for entrepreneurs, in accordance with the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration Regulation No. 231/2003 on the suspension of the implementation of UMP, if there are companies feel the objection. However, such suspension must also be subject to the terms and conditions stipulated by the government.
He said, his office will socialize the increase of South Kalimantan UMP from Rp2.258.000 in 2017 to Rp2.454.671.80 or increases by Rp196.671.80.
"According to the regulation, the increase of 2018 UMP which reaches 8.71 percent should be socialized for 60 days before it is enforced," he said in Banjarmasin on Tuesday.
For companies that do not implement, he added, there will be stages taken, among others, with the warning one to three times. If not implement the new provisions will be processed by law.
Related compliance level, he said, in every year the complaints about the implementation of UMP continue to fall. This becomes one indication that the company in the region is quite obedient to the provisions.
"One of our foundations for evaluating the company's compliance level is based on complaints from employees and the public. If there is no complaint it is likely that the terms will work," he said.
Nevertheless, he added, his side will continue to conduct supervision, be it routine, periodic or special supervision.
Secretary of the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) of South Kalimantan Sri Kusmaningsih said that the increase of UMP up to 8.71 percent is quite burdensome for businessmen, especially for the oil palm sector.
According to Sri, the oil palm sector is one of the most labor-intensive enterprises, most of whose operations are human labor.
"So rising Rp100 thousand alone will be very heavy, let alone this up to 8.71 percent, would greatly affect the increase in company operations," she said.
