Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Banjarbaru City Government, South Kalimantan, harvested 471 kg of quality corn and chilies with Kurnia Makmur Farmers Group in their farmland in Landasan Ulin Utara Sub-district, to support regional food security.
Banjarbaru Mayor Erna Lisa Halaby said the corn and chili yields in the city demonstrated the good quality and success of agricultural program, which is align with the Mayor's 100 day work plan.
"This is a concrete contribution of our farmers in strengthening local food security. The harvest was very satisfying," she said after opening and joined the harvest with farmers.

The corn and chili harvested were grown by farmers on a 0.1 hectare plot of land. The yields, including local chili variety of tanjung, reached 472 kg after approximately 150 days.
The Mayor appreciated farmers of the Kurnia Makmur group for their dedication and persistence in advancing agriculture sector in Kota Idaman or City of Dream (Banjarbaru's nickname).
“I express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to all farmer groups and their ranks. This demonstrates their commitment to maintaining Banjarbaru's food security,” she said.
She also expressed her hope that all farmer groups in Banjarbaru to be more prosper in the future, and emphasized that the city government is ready to support the development of agriculture sector.
On that occasion, the Mayor handed over assistance in the form of supplies and agricultural facilities and infrastructure to farmer groups in Landasan Ulin Utara Sub-district to support the sustainability of agricultural program.
