Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The district government of Kotabaru enthusiastically welcomed toch relay of the 2025 South Kalimantan Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in the Siring Laut tourist attraction, Kotabaru.
The district's General Administration Assistant H Selamat Riyadi who welcomed the relay expressed his pride in Kotabaru being one of the regions through which the Porprov torch relay passes.
He said it is not merely a symbol but rather a flame of sportmanship, unity, and achievement must be maintained by all South Kalimantan people.
“The presence of Porprov torch in Kotabaru is an important momentum to revive the spirit of sport, strengthen inter-regional ties, and foster the spirit of sportmanship among younger generation,” he said here as reported on Friday.

He emphasized the Kotabaru government's full support for the implementation of Porprov XII in Tanah Laut District, hoping that the event would serve as a platform for sustainable athlete development and to produce strong and accomplished athletes.
He also urged all community to support the success of the Porprov with a positive spirit, by supporting the athletes, and make sports part of a healthy and productive lifestyle.
Meanwhile, the torch relay from South Kalimantan Province was led by Dr H Abdul Haris Makkie, Head of the Organization of the South Kalimantan National Sports Committee (KONI).
The torch was handed over to Assistant for General Administration H Selamat Riyadi, then passed to the athletes to be paraded around the city.
The parade route began at Siring Laut attraction and headed toward Jalan H Agus Salim, Pangeran Diponegoro, Tugu Nelayan (Fisherman's Monument), and Irama. It then turned towards the Masjid Raya (Grand Mosque), Limbur Raya, and ended back at Siring Laut. Representatives from 18 sports (cabor) participated in the parade.
