Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A member of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Legialtive Council (DPRD) from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Abdul Basir, promised to oversee road repairs for Cantung Kiri Village, Hampang Sub-district, after gathering residents' aspiration during recess.
"This recess was an opportunity for silaturrahmi (good relation) and gathering aspiration of local residents," said Abdul Basir here on Tuesday.
He said many suggestions submitted by the people, but mostly related to road infrastructure.
“I saw my self how bad the condition of main road to Cantung Kiri Village. It must be a priority so that people's mobility is smoother, especially in transporting plantation products the main source of their economy,” Abdul Basir pointed out.

He promised to oversee repairs to roads which is the main access for villagers.
He emphasized his commitment to fight for the repairment of the road so it can improve people's welfare in Cantung Kiri.
Head of Cantung Kiri Village Salafudin said that the recess conducted by the DPRD member was very useful to express their aspiration for the future development.
“I am very grateful for Mr Basir's arrival. This is the first time a council member really go down to the village to hear our people's aspirations,” said Salafudin.
In line with that, one of comunity figures, Ali, also expressed similar appreciation.
According to him, usually their village is only visited by DPRD member candidates when election is approacing, but after being elected they never return.
“This is the first time that a DPRD member come after being elected. We hope DPRD members are like this, really want to gather aspirations of residents and see firsthand our condition,” said Ali.
