Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Srikandi PLN from female employees of PT PLN Main Distribution Unit (UID) for South and Central Kalimantan held teaching activities at a state junior high school SMP Negeri 1 Martapura to mark the National Education Day.
Chairwoman of Srikandi PLN Astri Rahma Wijayanti in Banjarbaru, Thursday, said that Srikandi PLN educates "Go Green" behavior and culture.
They taught how to manage waste properly and correctly, sorting waste and recycling it into useful items in collaboration with Sekumpul Waste Bank.
This is actuaaly a routine agenda of Srikandi PLN, especially on important moments, such as Natinal Education Day.
"Srikandi PLN is a task force formed by SOEs (BUMN) and PLN to provide benefits to the community through the support of their knowledge, manpower, and expertise. To commemorate National Education Day we hold Srikandi Teaching event," said Astri.

PLN, she said, care not only for electrivity, but also for the environment. One of which is by sharing knowledge about waste management to young generation student in welcoming a Golden Indonesia in the future.
"Managing waste must be taught and instill from early age and alway remind continuously. We don't want the environment to be damaged triggering various diseases due to piles of garbage," said Astri.
Teacher and also Director of SMPN 1 Martapura Waste Bank Extracurricular Hadiannoor said he was very supportive and appreciative of Srikandi Teaching activities.
"Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for the Srikandi PLN teaching activities and Insya Allah (God Willing) it is very beneficial for our school children," said Hadiannoor.
General Manager of PT PLN UID South and Central Kalimantan Muhammad Joharifin gave a positive response to the steps of Srikandi PLN in teaching with a noble goal.
"PLN does not only take care of electricity, but also has a mission to protect the environment and through Srikandi PLN provides understanding on how to manage waste that is good and wise. Hopefully the environment become cleaner and more comfortable," said Joharifin.
