Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Siti Habibah, a teacher at a public high school SMA Negeri I Tanta, Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan, was trusted to be the head of the school's Adiwiyata program.
The Islamic Religious Education teacher is committed to instilling environmental behabior in her students.
"Every Friday we invite students to clean up school environment, from the school garden to sorting waste," said Habibah here, Sunday.
Habibah want to pass on the knowledge she has related to Adiwiyata program, one of which is sorting waste that is worth sending to school waste bank.
The school waste bank has been operating since 2014 and has proven to be able to reduce the volume of garbage to 80 percen before being sent to the landfill.
Habibah has previously received training from Adaro Foundation (YABN) on local-potential based school development program which became the forerunner of Adiwiyata.

As someone has been mentored by Adaro since 2013, the alumni of Antasari State Islamic University (UIN Antasari) Banjarmasin was trusted to be the coordinator of the local potential-based school development program involving all educators at SMAN I Tanta.
Initially, the Adaro fostered program was in the form of mini project to make compost, it then developed into the establishment of school garden by utilizing compost production.
"For me, working on Adiwiyata program by supporting environmental sustainability is an act of worship," she said.
With her mandate, Habibah was able to prove her various knowledge and skills to maintain SMAN I Tanta as a national Adiwiyata school since 2015.
"To create aclean environment it is not only awareness that is needed but also knowledge and techniques," Habibah expounded.
Her obsession is to be useful in the world and shine in the hereafter through her dedication to support Adiwiyata program to create environmentally friendly school.
As a woman, she invites women to develop their potential to create something useful and shine in the hereafter.
"From darkness to light. From useless to useful to shining in theafterlife, we realize th struggle to RA Kartini," she said.
