Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - PT Pertamina, through its subsidiary PT Pelita Air Service, set aside Rp40 billion for the development of the Warukin Airport in Tabalong, South Kalimantan.
It was the Regent Anang Syakhfiani who conveyed this in Tanjung, Monday, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the district government and PT Pelita Air Service.
"The memorandum of understanding with PT Pelita Air Service we've done and then Pertamina has allocated Rp40 billion for the development of the Warukin Airport," said Anang.
The funds are used for thickening the runway or overlay and add facilities to the only airport in Banua Enam (six districts).
The verification results of Ministry of Transportation said the runway at the Warukin Airport must be paved 7.5 centimeters thick to be able to use for type of aircraft ATR 72.
Previously Director of Human Resources and General PT Pertamina Dwi Wahyu Daryoto said the discourse is PT Pelita Air Service flights will serve the route of Tanjung - Surabaya.
This is a lucrative business route in view of the largest coal mining companies such as PT Adaro Indonesia and its partners. Including plans took Garuda to operate ATR 72 if the overlay or thickening of the runway has been completed.
