Kandangan, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - South Hulu Sungai (HSS) District, South Kalimantan, has recorded a significant increase of tourist visit, both domestic and foreign tourists, in 2023, Head of HSS Youth, Sports and Tourism Office Heri Utomo informed.
"This is based on tourist visit data, both domestic and foreign, that increased in 2023 compared to 2022," he said here, Wednesday.
In 2023, the office recorded 428,365 tourists visit, while in 2022 it was only 247,946.
The 427,799 domestic tourists who visited were dominated by 358,737 people from South Kalimantan. Then, 33,227 people from East Kalimantan, 30,807 people from Central Kalimantan, and the rest from other regions.

Meanwhile, the number of foreign tourists had paid a visit to HSS was dominated by 214 people from Europe. 161 from America, then Oceania 119, and Australia 119.
"The increase in visits by domestic and foreign tourists to our district is an extraordinary leap," he said.
The siginifant increase of visits cannot be separated from the increase of facilities and events have been held, one of them was the yearly Loksado Festival, which was held in the Loksado National Tourism Strategic Area in HSS District.
The increase in visits, he said, had a positive impact on many parties, including hotels, transportation, and communities around tourist destinations in HSS.
