Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - Chief of South Kalimantan Regional Police Inspector General (Pol) Winarto confirmed that public security and order in the province was conducive throughout 2023 with no conspicuous incidents that threatened public security.
"Alhamdulillah (Thank God) the 2023 we end with peacefully, almost no prominent insidents that triggered conflict or criminal acts that have a wide impact on society," he said here, Thursday.
Winarto expressed his gratitude to the community and all stakeholders who have worked together to maintain security and order and assist police in maintaining security and order and law enforcement.
In a year-end release at the Bhayangkari Hall of South Kalimantan Police Headquarters, the Police Chief announced that the number of criminal acts throughout 2023 was 6,309 cases consisted of conventional crimes 4,607 cases, transnational 1,581 cases, and 121 cases of state property crimes.
There was zero contigency crime that described the absence of crimes that disrupt security, political, social, economyc aspects that disturb the public.
Conventional crime was dominated by stealing by force (curat) with 706 cases.
Transnational drug crimes were still dominant with 1,469 cases, increased by 4.41 percent from 2022 with 1,407 cases.
Apart from maintaining public security and law enforcement, the South Kalimantan Regional Police has increased social activities to apply "cooling system" strategy ahead of general election, so that the public supports the National Police's duties in maintaining security and order.

The regional police distributed 3,030 LPG gas canisters for free gratis and 79,400 basic food packages for low-income residents.
The police also provided 25 drilled wells and renovated 130 unhabitable houses in a free house renovation program.
"Everything we have gone through together throughout this year, we are looking forward to 2024 with full optimism to create a more prosperous society, a safe and condocive situation, including general election and regional election," said the Police Chief.
Meanwhile, Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor appreciated the hard work of the Regional Police and the ranks who have guarded this region to guarantee security and order among society.
"A safe and conducive situation is the main condition for social and economic activities in the community to run smoothly," he said.
