Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 2,930 inmates in South Kalimantan to obtain Independence Day remission on August 17, 2016.
"It is true that 2,930 inmates in South Kalimantan receive remission at the Independence Day," said Head of Correctional Division of South Kalimantan Regional Office of Law and Human Rights Ministry Harun Sulianto in Banjarmasin on Friday.
He said some of them from general crime inmates and narcotics who were convicted under five years and they get special remission.
"The inmates involved in narcotic cases who were sentenced under five years their remission under the authority of the Regional Office of Law and Human Rights Ministry," he said.
Not only that, the former warden of Palembang also said that there are 167 prisoners who walk free out of prison on the Independence Day.
The inmates who received the direct free remission because of remission obtained with the sentences that judges have decided be eligible for parole.
For example, inmate A convicted one year, free on September 12, 2016 and on August 17 to receive remission of one month, then he walk free out of prison.
"Requirements to get a remission, prisoners must be convicted of more than six months and had undergone a minimum punishment of six months from the sentence," he said.
Meanwhile, as many as 888 inmates of corruption and narcotics convicted for five years or more, as well as trafficking and money laundering convict their remission have been proposed and are being processed in Directorate General of Correction.
