Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Of the 42 inmates who breathe free air on Eid celebration day later, most of them are drug convicts.
"42 prisoners are free because they get the Eid al-Fitr special remission and 15 or most of them are drug convicts from the Class IIA Karang Intan Special Narcotics Prison," Head of South Kalimantan Office of Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kakanwil Kemenkumham) Dr. Ferdinand Siagian said here, Friday.
As for the total of convicts in South Kalimantan who get a special remission of Eid celebration in 2018 are 4,925, with details of 3,380 prisoners of General Crime Cases (TPU) and 1,545 persons of Special Crimes Cases (TPK).
Including four corrupt prisoners who get remission, namely one person from Class IIA Banjarmasin Prison, one from Class IIB Amuntai Prison, one from Class III Tanjung Prison and one from Class III Banjarbaru Prison.
"Based on data as of Thursday (31/5), there are 8,922 inmates in South Kalimantan, so in this year 50% of them receive Lebaran remissions," Ferdinand told Antara news agency.
