Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - District Secretary of Kotabaru Said Akhmad opened an agriculture and food security coordination meeting which was attended by Agriculture Offices across South Kalimantan in Kotabaru, Friday.
"This coordination meeting is a mean of coordination, evaluation, and consultation with stakeholders relevant with agriculture and food security for development of the sector," Said Akhmad said here.
Here, he said, the participants from across the province exchanging information, experiences, and giving each other input in developing agriculture and strengthening national food security, especially in South Kalimantan.
"Considering food is a basic human need must be met together by the government and society," he said.
The activity, he pointed out, was in accordance with the President's directives to making people have enough food, reducing inflation, poverty and stunting as well as increasing the welfare of farmers.

Head of the South Kalimantan Agriculture and Food Security Office Syamsir Rahman remarked that the meeting aimed to find out the state of food security in the respective regions to continue to innovate and making strong coordination.
"For the agricultural sector to be successful we have to focus on strategic, priority, and super priority programs to build synergy to realize food security as well as agriculture development right on time, right on quality, and right on target," Syamsir said.
Meanwhile, Head of Kotabaru Food Security and Agriculture Office Saperiani expounded that the district government of Kotabaru fully supported the activity which is according to the vision and mission of Kotabaru Regent.
"Food Security and Agriculture Office gains extraordinary support from the Regent of Kotabaru," she said.
The vision and mission of Kotabaru is the realization of society increasingly independent and prosperous through improvement in agribusiness and tourism.
On that occation, South Kalimantan Agriculture and Food Security Office handed over assistance to the Kotabaru Food Security and Agriculture Office.
South Kalimantan handed over corn processing equipment 1 Unit, 4 units of post-harvest machines corn sheller, hybrid corn seed for 1,200 hectares, 50 hectares of inbred rice cultivation assistance, 500 hectares of rice field inbred rice seeds.
