Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru District has made a history by winning gold and silver medals in golf at the 12th Provincial Games (Porprov XII) held in Tanah Laut District, South Kalimantan.
"This is the results of hard work, dedication and unyielding spirit of the athletes and coaching team," said Tomy Junaedy, chairman of Indonesian Golf Association (PGI) of Kotabaru here Saturday.
Tomy said this achievement is a history for Kotabaru, proving that its golf athletes were capable of competing with fair play.

With consistent performance and strong chemistry, the athletes successfully secured the gold medal, making history as the first golf gold medalists for Kotabaru.
Kotabaru female athlete Nurul Qomariah's brilliant performance did not stop in the mixed event. After winning gold, she again demonstrated her quality at the women's individual event.
In a tight competition, Nurul managed to maintain her focus and swing accuracy, brought her to win a silver medal.
"We are grateful and proud for this historic achievement," said Tomy.

He said this achievement will be a major motivation for developing young gold athletes and students in Kotabaru, while also breaking the stigma that golf is only for a select few.
Kotabaru's success in winning this medal also marks a positive sign for the development of golf sport in South Kalimantan.
The Porprov tournament is expected to be a platform for scouting potential athlete who will eventually represent South Kalimantan at the national level.
