Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Tanah Laut Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) held a typical village snack creativity contest with basic ingredients of moringa leaves, Friday.
The contest was to enliven the Manunggal Tuntung Pandang in Kait-kait Baru Village, Bati-bati Subdistrict. It is a sarasehan or informal meeting as a tradition to make a closer relation between the district government and its people in Tanah Laut.
Ning, a resident of neighborhood unit (RT) 03 of the village, who has made nugget as her creative food, said that moringa leaves based snack has now became a typical of Kait-Kait Baru Village.
"It was the Kait-Kait Baru community health center's nutrition nurse who first told us about many benefits of moringa leaves, in terms of vitamin, antibodies, and for small children to make the growth getting better and good for appetite," she said.
Concerning the story that moringa is mystical leaves, she denied it, because there is no definite research related to things containing the accults.
"Better to take it definite benefits," she said.
A total 14 participants from some neighborhod units in the village took part in the contest. Based on the jury's assessment the first winner was from RT 03 with a creation of nugget, second place RT 01 with bingka cake, and the third place was RT 11 with pempek.
Then, hopeful winners from other RTs with various snacks, including akar pinang cake, cendol, lapat, kelepon, and other snack all with moringa leaves as basic ingredents.
Each winner got their prizes submitted directly by the Chairwoman of Tanah Laut TP PKK Hj Nurul Hikmah Sukamta.
On that occasion, she also handed over some basic food packages for underprivileged residents.
Also attended Deputy Chair of TP PKK Yati Oktoviana Abdi Rahman, Second Deputy Chair Hj Rachmalina Dahnial Kifli, other board of Tanah Laut TP PKK, Chair of Bati-Bati Subdistrict TP-PKK and the board.
