Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent HM Sukamta said that the Tanah Laut District Government targets access of clean water in the district to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of 67 percent or at least the minimum of the community's need.
“The availability of clean water is very important for the people in Tanah Laut. Our efforts to realize the stunting reduction target and the MDGs target have not yet been achieved,” Sukamta said after inaugurating Director of the government-owned water company (PDAM) for 2022-2026 period in Pelaihari, Thursday (April 7, 2022).
According to Sukamta, the district government always provides a maximum support to PDAM to keep on growing.
He hopes that PDAM to innovate by presenting new business variants that are able to increse revenue and income.
“Local government will provide maximum support, both in market development and supporting infrastructure. I hope PDAM will produce bottled water, at least for refilling water,” he said.
On this occasion, the regent expressed his gratitude to the previous PDAM director and staff who had contributed a lot in developing and advancing the company to date.
The new PDAM Director Rudi Syahrinsyah expressed his optimism that PDAM will continue to develop. “We hope that PDAM will become a strong, healthy company, and contribute to local revenue. Insya Allah (God Willing) we hold on the mandate given to run the company in a professional, effective, and healthy manner,” he said.
