Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Banjarmasin has almost reached its target to cover 80 percent of COVID-19 vaccination, as the Head of the City's Health Agency Machli Riyadi reported that the coverage has recorded by 77.51 percent of the total 711,000 targets.
"It has reached 77.51 percent today (30/12/2021) for the first dose," he said here on Thursday.
He said that the Banjarmasin City Government is targeting to reach 80 percent by closing this year, the time left by one day will be boosted even more maximally.
"Today 4,293 has participated for the first dose vaccine jab bringing the total to more than 400,000," he said.
Whereas people who took the second dose vaccine on the same day were 1,823 to make the total to 357,000 or 59.26 percent.
"Meanwhile, 2 people received the third dose vaccine jab today making the total of 5,883 people who received the booster or 1.14 percent," said Machli Riyadi.

He acknowledged that the obstacles to accelerate vaccination are still in the elderly whose coverage is still 42 percent for the first dose of injection and 32 percent for the second dose of the total 45,000 targets.
With the assistance of the National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri), he said, the city keeps striving to reach the vaccination rate, including for elderly, by carrying out mass vaccination accompanied by prizes to increase public interest.
"Besides, we continue to urge the public to get vaccinated. At this NY celebration people are advised to avoid crowds, continue to be disciplined in applyng health protocols," he said.
