Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - Chairperson of the Pancasila Ideology Education Agency (BPIP) Yudian Wahyudi encouraged universities to instill values of the national ideology Pancasila through alternative methods, including by organising the Pancasila-themed community service programme.
"As time progresses, adoption of alternative methods to educate about Pancasila in formal education must be done to achieve precise and less-dogmatic instillment of values. One of the alternative methods that universities can pursue is by organising a Pancasila-themed community service programme," Wahyudi noted in Yogyakarta on Tuesday.
The agency head expressed hope that social interactions in the program would enhance nationalistic insight and Pancasila values among students and locals involved in the community service programme.
Apart from boosting the students' knowledge, the Pancasila-themed community service programme will also provide a first-hand learning experience for students, he noted.

The Pancasila-themed programme will complement the learning process, as interactions during that time target the student's non-cognitive side, the BPIP head added.
"The Pancasila-themed community service programme is a form of experiential learning that prioritizes real-life interactions. After the programme, university students are expected to tip their balance on wise character than the pious character that focuses merely on cognition," Wahyudi remarked.
As the programme prioritizes experiential learning, apart from their cognitive ability, the students' sensitivity to their surroundings and problem-solving abilities will also be honed, the agency head remarked.
Meanwhile, Sunan Kalijaga Islamic State University's Research and Community Service Institute head, Muhrisun, concurred with the BPIP head's suggestion for a Pancasila-themed programme.
"We will reformulate our programme to adhere to the Pancasila-themed community service programme concept, and we will submit our new plan to the BPIP head," Muhrisun stated.
Moreover, Tontowi from the university's Pancasila and State Defence Research Centre also supported the suggestion and expressed his readiness to assist the Pancasila-based community service programme's organization.
