Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - PT. Tanjung Power Indonesia (TPI), a subsidiary of Adaro Energy that operates the coal-fired power plant (PLTUI in Tanjung, Tabalong District, South Kalimantan Province, has established a Qur'an based reading and writing school known as TPA (Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an).
The TPA was built in 2016 at the Al-Ikhlas mushala (a worship place smaller than mosque) at the ASABRI Housing complex, through its Corporate Social Responsibility program as its commitment to encourage the improvement of welfare in various fields by providing assistance according to the need of the community.
Prior to this TPA, ASABRI children had to travel 10 to 15 kilometers to learn Al-Quran. Some of them even do not want to go to the TPA, because of the distance.
Although due to the COVID-19 pandemic, activities at the TPA had stopped, then they started to be active again and certainly by applying strict health protocols.
Currently, there are 40 pupils and two teachers at the TPA, which has been registered with the Tabalong chapter of the Indonesian Mosque Youth Communication Forum(BKPMRI). Its curriculum has referred to the BKPRMI with a schedule of activities according to applicable standards.

The existence of the TPA is very beneficial for the residents, as children's knowledge and skill about religion, such as reading and writing Al-Quran, knowledge about salat, and prayer continue to increase, thus they can grow the religious character of children from an early age.
These benefits were also felt by Ustadz Fahmi, one of the TPA teachers. “We are very grateful to PT TPI for establishing TPA, from the beginning in 2016 it has only 25 students now they're 40,” he said.
CSR program by establishing TPA was a real work of PT TPI to provide the best for the residents around its operation. CSR programs can strengthen the relationship between the company and local residents.
“We feel a good relationship between the company and ASABRI residents, even children can have the opportunity to go to school and learn Alqur’an from an early age and this answers the needs of parents in the ASABRI complex,” said PIC CSR & ER Tanjung Power Indonesia H.M.Salahudin Noor.
